Membership of a suffrage group: WSPU (Women's Social and Political Union), WFL (Women's Freedom League), NUWSS, National Union of Women's Suffrage Society), CLWS ( Church League for Women's Suffrage)
Years of arrest:where a () is used that indicates the number of arrests that year
Charge: where () is used that indicates they were charged more than once for the same type of offence
Sentence (If prison, the term is recorded, or if a fine the amount. (if it is not known if they went to prison, the fine and the sentence are recorded)
​Force-fed: many went on hunger strike but were not force fed.  

Where there are no details of a home address, the arrested person is omitted. Where it is known, they were connected with the WSPU or WFL but no home address is known, Holborn, an approximate location for both groups is used instead.
